Faux Quilted Baby Onesie

Designed by
Cindi Bisson, Behind These Eyes™

Using the KellyCraft Get-it-Straight™ Laser Square made it easy to align the stamps to create the large monogram letter on this personalized baby onesie.  I designed this one for my neighbor’s adorable new daughter - Autumn Elizabeth, and her mom and I agree she will look adorable this summer wearing this with little red shorts and sandals!

Materials:

Baby onesie
KellyCraft Get-it-Straight™ Laser Square
ClearSnap Crafter’s Inkpad - Black
Ann Butler Designs Stamp Sets by Unity Stamp Co.  - 1" Leaves All Over, 1" Stripes, Dots, Hearts, 1"Doily Picnic, 1" Diamonds & Plaid
Beacon Adhesives Felt Glue
Red DMC embroidery floss
Clover embroidery needle
Two patterns black ribbon, black ric-rac
3 Red buttons - assorted shapes
Westcott Titanium Bonded scissors
Iron or heat tool

Instructions:

Wash and dry baby onesie.

Determine placement of stamps to create monogram letter of choice, using KellyCraft Get-it-Straight™ Laser Square  to ensure proper alignment.

Ink stamps first stamps with black Crafter’s ink.  Stamp.   Repeat on bottom of other side of letter. Remove stamps you layed out for placement determination.

Rotate KellyCraft Get-it-Straight™ Laser Square and continue stamping along left edge of letter, following laser line to align stamps.

Continue stamping to complete letter, using KellyCraft Get-it-Straight™ Laser Square to ensure proper alignment of stamps.

Heat set ink using iron or heat tool.

Thread needle with 3 strands red embroidery floss.  Embroider around stamped squares, using back stitch.  (Tip:  using an embroidery hoop is optional, but it makes stitching easier.)

Measure and cut black ric-rac to wrap around each sleeve.  Use Beacon Adhesives felt glue to mount.  Let dry.

Cut 2 pieces ribbon approximately 2” long, and 1 piece ric-rac approximately 2” long.  Fold in half, place onto monogram letter and stitch in place with red floss, using assorted red buttons over ends of each piece.
