Valentines Day Ornament Cluster

I hope you've hit the Christmas sales because those red, purple, pink and even silver closeout ornaments will make for great Valentines Day decorations! All you have to do is get crazy with embellishments and remember to use your Get-It-Straight laser square as a visual reference so that you get the perfect line every time! I promise you will be in love!

Supplies:

  • 4 different color and sized Christmas ornaments (14 total)
  • Foam sticker hearts
  • Rhinestones
  • Hot glue
  • string in 3 different colors
  • Safety pin
  • Ribbon

How to get a straight band around the center of your ornament.

  1. Rest your ornaments on the laster square and place the laser in the middle of the ornament. Use this as your visual guide to adhere a band of embellishments around the center.
  2. Go crazy with embellishments!

  1. Tie different length strings to your ornaments. Grab the end of the strings in one hand and gently pull your ornaments to desired lengths.
  2. Once you are happy tie all the strings into a knot and hang on a hanger or safety pin.
  3. Add a thick bow for extra va-va-voom!

Word of The Year Sign

I realize I'm a little late to the game but I figured that shouldn't stop me from picking a word for 2013. Nor should it stop me from whipping up this super simple word sign using poster board, alcohol inks, poster letters and of course my Get-It-Straight laser square. One could say my 2013 will be laser focused ;)

Supplies:
11x16 piece of poster board
Xacto knife
2 colors of alcohol inks I used Tim Holtz
2 sizes of pouncers
Paper poster board letters with self adhesive back or double sided tape.

Instructions:

  1. Use your laser square to make your poster board cut lines. Cut out with Xacto knife.
  2. Align your letters about a half in from the bottom of the sign.
  3. Add some purple alcohol ink to your pouncer and work the heavy amounts around the edges of the frame. As the ink gets lighters work around the letters, making sure they are flat and secure in place.
  4. Add a second color (I used red) with a smaller pouncer but in the same fashion as above.
  5. Remove letters and pt your sign in a place where you will always see it!

Sweet Treat Bag

Project by: Andre Currie

I decided to take all of our leftover Halloween candy and make cute "Just Because"and "Thank You" sweet treat bags, using my KellyCraft Get-It-Straight Laser Square and a few simple supplies!

What I Used

 Sandwich Bag
"You're So Sweet" Stamp
5.25 x 6.5 creme card stock

1. Fold 5.25 x 6.5 card stock width wise and fold
2. Now unfold and line laser in the middle of the bottom half of card stock
3. Stamp your image/message

4. Fold card stock around top of bag
5. Use laser square to lay down straight lines of washi tape along top and bottom
5. Use laser square to make "suspenders" along the bag all the way up and over the folded card stock

Continue to embellish with washi tape until desired design is achieved!
Using the washi tape as "suspenders" ensures your card stock top won't slip off of the treat bag!
Easy peasy! I know some neighbors that will love this!

Foam Stamped Baby Onesies

Project by Andrea Currie

Getting acrylic stamp letters lined up perfectly can be hard, even with the acrylic block grid lines! However, if you have a Get-It-Straight laser square you will be lined up and stamping like a pro in no time. In fact that's exactly how I made these foam stamped onsies with ease!

Materials

White Cotton Onesie
Foam shapes and letters (creatology)
Fabric paint (I used Tulip)
Painters Tape
Parchment paper or cardboard
Double sided sticky tape
scrap paper

Tools

KellyCraft Get-It-Straight Laser Square
Foam brush
Acrylic block

Directions

  • Insert parchment paper or cardboard into onesie.
  • Tape onesie down to surface.
  • Turn laser on and arrange your letters exactly as you would read them on the onesie. Then arrange your other shapes around it.

  • Adhere double sided sticky tape to acrylic block.
  • stamp acrylic block down onto they design you just arranged.
  • Peel off sticker backing from letters and shapes.
  • Dab paint onto stamp and wipe off excess paint off the acrylic block with a damp towel. It's ok if you have some paint on the acrylic but not a lot.
  • Test stamp on scrap paper for crisp even design and adjust accordingly for your onesie.
  • Line your laser to the location on the onesie that best suites your design and then stamp!

Glittered Stripe Vase

Now that I have a no fuss way to get straight lines using the "Get-It-Straight" Laser Square - all of those "blah" vases hiding in the back of my cabinet are getting glittered stripe makeovers! Here's what you need if you want to update your vases this holiday season -

Supplies

First cut your double sided tape to the diameter of the vase. Then using your laser square to lay your tape sticky side up every half inch. The laser square makes this easy peasy to get the stripes straight! Once you have your tape straight and spaced out you'll place your vase on top of the tape and roll it along the tape. Be sure to start in the corner of the laser square as that helps you roll the vase straight.

Use a sponge brush to add Mod Podge in between tape lines and then sprinkle your glitter on.

Alternate colors. Once dry you can then take off the double sided tape protective film and glitter the tape too. Then voila!

Aren't those the most perfect stripes?
